We were lucky enough to have world renown BJJ coach, commentator and author Robert Drysdale visit us at Fightcross Albion for a week this October.
He is regarded as the most accomplished American Grappler of his generation, Robert Drysdale is a 4th dan black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Leonardo Vieira and a former ADCC open weight champion (2007).
Robert Drysdale grew up in Brazil, training in one of the most talented teams of the 2000’s era (Brasa Clube de Jiu-Jitsu), with whom he became the 2nd US national to win an IBJJF black belt World title (2005).
Robert Drysdale is also competed in mixed martial arts (MMA) reaching the pinnacle of the combat sport, the UFC. In 2013 Drysdale joined forces with Rodrigo Cavaca to form a new grappling team – Zenith BJJ, which has become a big player in the sport.
While here, Robert did a book signing of his book “Opening Closed Guard” a history of BJJ and he conducted a great 2 ½ hour seminar on open guard and passing modern guards in BJJ.
Zenith BJJ has over 120 Affiliates worldwide with Fightcross MMA & Fitness Albion is one of only two Zenith BJJ affiliates in Australia. Robert is planning to visit our gym once a year and we are already planning his next visit.
